What are Huntington County Criminal Records?

Huntington County criminal records are official documents that detail an individual’s criminal history within the county. The Indiana State Police (ISP) serves as the central repository for criminal history information in the state. It provides members of the public with access to these criminal history records.

How Do I Get Huntington County Criminal Records?

The ISP provides access to name-based and fingerprint searches to interested members of the public. Name-based criminal history reports provide limited information on felonies and misdemeanor arrests carried out in Indiana. A name-based search requires the individual’s name, date of birth, gender, race, and if needed, Social Security Number, and place of birth. A fingerprint criminal history report provides comprehensive information on all arrests, charges, and dispositions carried out in Indiana. The result of a name-based check is limited. Hence a fingerprint search is recommended to get a more detailed and complete criminal history report.

Name-based criminal history reports can be obtained online and by mail. The online limited criminal history search is the portal used to make online requests for criminal records. This service requires a payment of $15 per record for subscribers or $16.32 per record (payable with a credit card). To make a mail request, fill out the Criminal Records Request Form. Enclose payment and send it by mail to:

Indiana State Police
Criminal History Limited Check
P.O. Box 6188
Indianapolis, IN 46206-6188

This request costs $7 per copy. Acceptable payment methods are certified check or money order.

Sex and violent offender information are available online through the Huntington County registry and the statewide registry. Residents of Huntington County can search any of these registries to obtain information about sex offenders residing in their neighborhoods. In addition to government agencies, county public records may also be obtained from third-party websites. These non-government platforms come with intuitive tools that allow for expansive searches. Record seekers may either opt to use these tools to search for a specific record or multiple records. Users are able to search third-party websites remotely for multiple records at a time with just the name of the record subject and their last known location, including the city, county, or state. Third-party sites are not sponsored by government agencies. Because of this, record availability and results may vary.
